The Supramonte in Baunei is a wild territory stretching from Santa Maria Navarrese to Cala Luna. With its 40 kilometres of coastline made of sheer limestone cliffs dropping down vertically to the Tyrrhenian Sea, the Supramonte is said to be the wildest part of Sardinia. In Baunei and Santa Maria Navarrese, near the coast, you will find magnificent walls and crags perfect for free climbers, while inland valley with terrific limestone walls and the plateau are ideal for curious excursionists. La grotta del Fico
Nestled between the beautiful beaches of Ispuligidenie (Cala Mariolu) and Cala Biriala, and located near Cala goloritzè, is the stunning Grotta del Fico. In the limestone walls, at about 7 metres above sea level, is the entrance to Grotta del Fico. Inside the cave boardwalks make the passage safe, allowing visitors to walk where once was an underground river. The cave is renowned for the great number of sumps connecting to the sea and for the Monk Seals that used these syphons to reach the inner beaches and reproduce safely.

Free Climbing in Baunei
Santa Maria Navarrese and Baunei are the perfect place for sport climbing lovers. Recently both Santa Maria Navarrese and Baunei have become among the most famous climbing spots in Sardinia: the obelisk Aguglia di Goloritzé, the walls of the Villaggio Gallico and the crag at the marina in Santa Maria Navarrese.
